Why We Are Here
Crosswinds Community Church was established out of obedience to the clear calling and direction of the Lord. It was strongly felt that the northwest part of the city of Las Vegas was growing very rapidly and needed a solid, evangelical, Spirit-filled, Christian Church.
Everything we do in this church has a specific purpose. The purpose or mission statement of this church is based on the five fold ministry gifts and can be outlined with the following five words: reach, keep, help, teach, release.
Reach - The ministry of the Evangelist. Our first priority is to reach the lost with the good news of God's plan of salvation and life giving truth communicated clearly through our words and actions. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19 NIV)
Keep - The ministry of the Prophet. Our second priority is to keep as many individuals as the Lord brings to our ministry for as long as possible with the highest level of involvement as possible in order that we may continue to help, teach, and eventually release them into ministry. "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away... And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me..." (John 6:37-39 NIV)
Help - The ministry of the Pastor. The third priority we have is to help as many as we can to be healed and set free emotionally, relationally, and spiritually through prayer, Godly council, and example. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 4:18-19 NIV)
Teach The ministry of the Teacher. Our fourth priority is to teach those who remain in our ministry the content, meaning, and application of God's word, so that they will persevere and be victorious in the Faith. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."( Matthew 28:19-20 NIV)
Release The ministry of the Apostle. Finally, our fifth priority is to train and release individuals to minister to their peers in the present and to multitudes in the future. "After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Luke 10:1-2 NIV)
